Punishment for being homosexual in Iran has traditionally been death by hanging. But there’s another option: A sex-change operation, which for some could be a fate worse than death. Iran performs seven times more gender reassignment surgeries than all of Europe combined.
And best of all, the Iranian government picks up 50% of the costs for men who choose gender reassignment surgery. Not sure if this applies to women who want to become men.
