Raids that captured 12 Muslims, including 11 Pakistanis on UK student visas with serious ties to al-Qaeda, are believed to have averted at least one of the 30 Islamic terrorist plots currently under investigation.
A series of Easter holiday bombings were reportedly being planned by suspects in one of the biggest anti-terror operations since the July 7 attacks. Official described reports that the alleged plotters were planning to attack “soft targets” such as shopping centers, nightclubs, and soccer grounds like Old Trafford.
