UK LIAR-IN-CHIEF denies Britain had any involvement in decision to release the Libyan Lockerbie terrorist
Yet everyone knows Scotland doesn’t decide anything concerning a major foreign policy move without prior British approval.
But Gaddafi’s son confirms, “Oil deal WAS why UK freed Megrahi.
David Cameron stepped up his attack on Gordon Brown over the Lockerbie affair last night. The Tory leader spoke out after Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s son said there had been an ‘obvious’ link between trade talks and a UK-Libya prisoner exchange deal.
Saif Gaddafi said it was ‘not a secret’ that a lucrative oil and trade deal signed by Tony Blair in 2007 had been connected to attempts to agree a treaty that would have let Abdelbaset Ali al Megrahi return to Libya. UK DAILY MAIL
And if you think Obama didn’t know about the release until just before it happened, think again. Eric Holder warned Scotland about hero’s welcome for Lockerbie bomber two months before it happened.
Attorney General Eric Holder warned his Scottish counterpart in June that the man convicted of blowing US-bound Pan Am Flight 103 out of the sky could get a hero’s welcome if allowed to return to Libya, according to the head of a group representing the families of victims.
Holder’s warning to Scotland’s justice secretary, Kenny MacAskill, came nearly two months before the bomber, Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, was released from a Scottish prison and greeted by a cheering crowd on his arrival in Libya last week. Notes prepared ahead of Holder’s June 26 conversation with MacAskill were provided to the Associated Press by Frank Duggan, president of Victims of Pan Am Flight 103 Inc. Duggan said a Justice Department official read him notes that Holder used during the conversation. BOSTON GLOBE
