Doctor shocked at how brutally Mumbai Jewish hostages were tortured: “Both the Rabbi and his pregnant wife were sexually assaulted and then their genitalia were mutilated. Of all the bodies, the Israeli victims bore the maximum torture marks. It was so bad that I do not want to go over the details even in my head again.”
Doctors working in a hospital where all the bodies, including that of the terrorists, were taken said they had not seen anything like this in their lives. It was shocking and disturbing,” a doctor said.
Asked what was different about the victims of the incident, another doctor said: “It was very strange. I have seen so many dead bodies in my life, and was yet traumatised. A bomb blast victim’s body might have been torn apart and could be a very disturbing sight. But the bodies of the victims in this attack bore such signs about the kind of violence of urban warfare that I am still unable to put my thoughts to words,” he said.
Asked specifically if he was talking of torture marks, he said: “It was apparent that most of the dead were tortured. What shocked me were the telltale signs showing clearly how the hostages were executed in cold blood,” one doctor said. REDIFF
The Rabbi’s wife, Rivkah Holtzberg, was six months pregnant. Their two-year-old son, Moshe, saved by his nanny, was also beaten by the terrorists – reports showed his back was covered in marks consistent with abuse.
Must see HBO Documentary
The documentary walks you through the events as they happened, showing dramatic videos captured by security cameras and the media. It includes intercepted phone conversations between the terrorists and their handlers. These are particularly eerie…the audio is captioned, of course, but the tone you hear when a coordinator instructs a terrorist to commit murder is as matter-of-fact as you might ask an assistant to bring you a stapler. The terrorists are given spiritual encouragement as they tire, with ongoing references to the pleasure Allah is deriving as the operation unfolds and the dead pile up, along with assurances of splendid rewards awaiting the faithful. This is the sort of dialogue you’d expect to come out of the mouths of bad guys in a cheap movie, or maybe words Dr. Evil would say. It’s almost impossible to wrap your head around the concept that it’s real.
