An epic movie about Islam’s Prophet Muhammad is in the pipeline, backed by a producer of the Lord of the Rings. In accordance with Islamic rules, the Prophet cannot be depicted on screen. Images of the Prophet are considered blasphemous by Muslims.
American Barrie Osborne, who also produced The Matrix, told Reuters the film would be an “international epic” aimed at “bridging cultures.” The $150 million English language film should go into production in 2011. But how do they expect to base a film around a man they cannot under threats of death and beheadings?
“The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam,” Osborne said. LINK

All of them make Mohammed look like the most despicable human being ever to pollute the face of the earth. Which, of course, is QUITE an achievement; so much so that Mohammed doesn’t even compare favorably to the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Saddam.
Also, you hit the nail right on the head when you said “profit.” That’s all Mohammedanism is, a “profitable prophet plan” that lasted far longer than the man who designed it and planned to benefit from it.
Actually I think this has been done twice. Once in the 1970′s before nuances of islamic loonicy were widely known. The upshot of that was a black muslimwhack job took control of the newsroom in a DC TV station and killed a Jewish newscaster. The second time was something called “the messenger” and it was filmed from the viewpoint of a turd sitting on mo’s shoulder. One never saw him except for a shadow and voice. I think that set off another set of riots but no Americans killed this time. I think both were box office bombs.
