Before the arrival of American troops, the Taliban would not permit girls to attend school much less aspire to a career. Under Taliban rule, women were condemned to live as nothing more than indentured servants, with no basic human rights.
Although they are light years away from true freedom and equal rights, at least they have hope now that a better life is within reach, thanks to the efforts of America’s bravest.
