Vandals attack a Long Island mosque twice in one week

HUNTINGTON, NY — Police in Suffolk County are trying to figure out who tossed a jar filled with nails into the driveway of the mosque. It was a repeat of last week’s incident.

Hey, free nails!

ABC NEWS Members of the mosque in Huntington seemed to come and go as usual on Tuesday, but it’s clear they are shaken by two possible hate crimes happening here within just days.

Investigators say the Masjid Noor mosque and its members were likely targeted. The broken glass and nails didn’t damage the building, but some believe they are a symbol of growing hostility toward Islam and Muslims. The crimes come after the uproar over plans to build a community center and mosque near Ground Zero. (Riiight, blame everything on the Ground Zero Victory Mosque)

Neighbors say there was strong opposition to the opening of this mosque as well. People continue to complain about the traffic and noise.
