CANADA: Poor man’s Burqa Bandits

Three men are being called the ‘burqa bandits’ after they robbed a jewelry store in Ontario while wearing loose-fitting material which covered their bodies and faces.

Digital Journal (H/T CP) — “On the 15th of December 2010 at approximately 11:38 am three males entered the Ben Moss Jewelry store located at Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener, Ontario. The suspects were wearing disguises that covered their faces and body.”The robbery was captured on CCTV cameras. The men, who wore garments in various colours, smashed display cases at the back of the store and quickly removed jewellery before leaving.No one was injured during the robbery.

Three men held up a Cashmax Payday Loans loan in Kitchener a day earlier. The robbers in that case, who were wearing dark clothing, sunglasses and head and face coverings, got away with cash. Several thieves have been using similar disguises.In May the Sydney Morning Herald reported that a gunman wearing a full black burqa and sunglasses got away with a bag of cash following a robbery in a Sydney car park.In February France 24 reported that two bank robbers got away with money after disguising themselves as veil-wearing Muslim women.
