TUNISIA: Swedish tourists on wild boar hunting trip savagely attacked by wild animals

A group of Swedish tourists who were visiting Tunisia on a hunting trip were dragged from their taxis Sunday and mercilessly beaten by local MUSLIM residents who claimed they were “foreign terrorists,” the hunters said.

AP Caught up in Tunisia’s upheaval, nine Swedish hunters of wild boar became the hunted.

“We arrived about 10 days ago in Tunisia to hunt boars,” Ove Obergo told reporters in the group’s central Tunis hotel. “We boarded three taxes to go to the airport and while we were on our way we were stopped at a checkpoint.”

“They searched the vehicles. They found our rifles and everything degenerated. They dragged us out of the cars, treated us like foreign terrorists. We were kicked and beaten,” Obergo said, recounting how he and five others in his group received bloodied faces and bruises.

“The police arrived. We showed our permits and we could explain to them. The police helped us get out of the situation. The only thing we want now is to go home,” he said.
