STATEN ISLAND: Is the media going to cover up that this child ‘attacker’ is a Muslim too, if she is, as they did with the other child charged in this attack?
A second child has been arrested and charged in the attack of a Muslim classmate where police say the victim’s religious head garb was nearly ripped off. The suspect, identified as a 13-year-old Staten Island girl, was taken into custody Friday following the shocking assault where the victim, also 13-years-old, was punched and kicked after being asked if she was Muslim.
According to police, the second arrest comes after another 12-year-old elementary school student was charged in the attack. The pair attacked the victim Tuesday at around 1 p.m. on the grounds of Dreyfus Intermediate School in the Stapleton section of Staten Island where both students are enrolled, police said. Published reports identified the 12-year-old suspect as Osman Daramy, (a MUSLIM).
“They kicked me on my leg, and punched my face,” the victim told PIX 11 News. “When I started to get up, they said ‘You’re a Muslim’, and hit me again, and then they called me a terrorist a few times.” During the alleged attack, Osman attempted to remove the teen’s religious head wrap but failed as she fought back, police said.
“At that time, I was feeling terrible,” the girl, whose family is from Pakistan, told PIX 11 News. “I was trying to hold it so it doesn’t come off.” The victim suffered minor bruises and a cut lip, the New York Post reported. (Then for sure the alleged attackers will get life in prison)
Osman was taken into police custody Wednesday while his accomplice who was not immediately identified was arrested two days later. In addition to felony assault as a hate crime, Osman also faces aggravated harassment charges. He remains in custody at Spofford Juvenile Center in the Bronx. (He’s STILL in jail?)
