Israeli gunfire also wounded about 225 others as demonstrators on the Syrian side tried to cross the ceasefire line on the annexed Golan Heights, Syria’s SANA news agency said. Similar protests were held in the West Bank, where hundreds demonstrated at Israel’s Qalandia checkpoint near Ramallah, and in Gaza, where several hundred people gathered in the north of the coastal enclave.
Now it’s up to 20 killed. Go, ISRAEL!
In Majdal Shams, in the occupied Golan, Israeli troops opened fire as demonstrators tried to push through the mined ceasefire line, which has been reinforced with two lines of barbed wire. Tour people were killed and 13 wounded, Syrian television said.
Israel forces were placed on high alert after activists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and in Arab nations bordering the Jewish state, called for marches on checkpoints and border areas.
