Police say a Somali man, Hassan Farah, robbed a bank with the hopes of being caught afterwards, so he could be deported back to his home country of Somalia, at American taxpayer expense, of course.

UK DAILY MAIL (H/T Cliff C) -Hassan Muse Farah, of Minneapolis, threatened to blow up the Wells Fargo Bank in the city on Friday.

A bank employee said Farah had walked through the front entrance and gave one of the tellers a threatening hand written note. The note demanded $33,000 and a threat to ‘blow the bank right away,’ according to the police report. The teller gave him $1,805 from the register, CBS news reports.

Then Farah, 20, walked over to a chair in the lobby and sat down to wait until police arrived. He was arrested, allegedly admitted to robbing the bank, and has been charged in Hennepin County District Court with second degree aggravated robbery.

They say he robbed the bank and waited for them to arrive just so he could be sent to prison and then deported to his native Somalia so he can be reunited with members of his family. (And hoping to get a little extra cash from the bank for spending money on the trip)
