Hey Nihad, I already am educating people about 'Islamophobia'

We need your help to raise $50,000 before August 1 to ensure that an additional attorney is available to help defend your right to freely practice your religion.

As-salaamu alaykum,

May you have a blessed last few days of Ramadan and a joyous Eid.

CAIR recently issued a first-of-its-kind annual report on the disturbing growth of Islamophobia in America. The groundbreaking report — titled “Same Hate, New Target: Islamophobia and Its Impact in the United States 2009-2010” — analyzes issues such as the manufactured controversy over the Park 51 Islamic community center in Manhattan, the Oklahoma ballot initiative targeting Islamic principles (Sharia) and the political exploitation of Islamophobia in recent elections.

ISLAMOPHOBIAIt also spotlights the “worst” Islamophobes and the “best” of those pushing back against growing anti-Muslim sentiment in American society and presents an initial set of recommendations for Muslims and Americans of other faiths to challenge Islamophobia.

The Bottom Line: Islamophobia is the new face of an old hate that has targeted minorities throughout our nation’s history.

This 67-page educational report needs to be in the hands of journalists and public officials as soon as possible. The first printing of the report has already been distributed to national elected leaders. We need your help to print and distribute 5,000 more copies of the report to television and newspaper editors and local and state public officials such as mayors, governors, state representatives, and city council members.

It is crucial that we extend the reach of this information, because information is power. There is no doubt that Islamophobia has become a national issue, but we can’t afford to be emotional in our response — we must have a fact-based challenge, and this groundbreaking report is a key tool. Using information like this, media outlets have started to expose the professional hate-mongers who are spreading lies about Islam.

Please support this vital initiative with your zakat and sadaqah during this holy month. All contributions to CAIR are zakat-eligible. I urge you to consider giving $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, or whatever you can.

OUR ULTIMATE GOAL this Ramadan is $650,000 for the Islamophobia report distribution and all the other important work CAIR does to defend your rights. So far we have raised $331,000. With God’s help and your support we will achieve our goal. If everyone who receives this message does their part, we can do it.

Please make a commitment to pay your zakat to CAIR during Ramadan and urge your friends and relatives to make the same commitment. If you donated in the past, please consider giving again.

Thank you for your support and may Allah bless you.

P.S. – For a donation of $250 or more, we will send you a copy of the Islamophobia report.

P.P.S. – All contributions are zakat-eligible, but not tax-deductible. (not since the FBI put us on the terrorist watch list)
