They are calling a cartoon posted on a Hamilton mosque that is blatantly critical of Pastor Terry Jones (Florida quran-burner) an attempt to intimidate mosque members. HUH?
CAIR-CAN The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) today called on members of the Hamilton community to assist the investigation into the posting of a cartoon on the door of the Hamilton Downtown Mosque. The Hamilton Downtown Mosque issued its own press release regarding the incident and has indicated it intends to hold a press conference this Friday, December 9th, 2011 to address this issue.
“While the cartoon itself aims to lampoon the Islamophobic and anti-Muslim threat of Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove outreach Center in Gainesville, FL to burn a Qur’an, its posting on the door of the Hamilton Downtown mosque appears to be an attempt to intimidate members of Hamilton’s Muslim community,” said CAIR-CAN Acting Executive Director Ihsaan Gardee.
“Unfortunately, such types of incidents continue to be reported to CAIR-CAN. However, while disturbing, CAIR-CAN does not believe these types of acts represent the sentiments of the vast majority of Hamilton residents who we call upon to assist in the investigation and to help send a clear message to would-be perpetrators that such incidents will be taken seriously.
“CAIR-CAN has been in contact with and urged mosque officials and community members to remain vigilant and to immediately document and report suspicious behaviour to law enforcement and to CAIR-CAN, in order to establish a clear record of such incidents,” Gardee said adding, “To assist in this effort, the Hamilton Police have recently posted a video online of who they believe to be the perpetrator(s). Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Sgt. Nancy Lantz, Hate Crime Investigator, 905-546-5678 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”
(Unfortunately for Canada) there are estimated to be over 800,000 Canadian Muslims.
