Thousands of people held a demonstration organized by radical Islamist group Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (JUI) in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The protesters called for resistance against “pro-American policies” in Pakistan. They also urged the government to cut its ties with the United States, blaming Washington for the worsening security and economic situation in Pakistan.
Hey, Paki Man, how about sending back the $billions in financial aid we give you every year?
Press TV JUI leader Mufti Kifayatullah told Press TV that “conspiracies” are being hatched to make Pakistan a “secular state.” “Pakistan is an Islamic state… and we have been trying to foil these conspiracies,” he said. “We have been holding massive rallies across the country and they have been successful in bringing about a change in the minds of people,” Kifayatullah added.
The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e Islam also stated that a false “image of Islam and Muslims” is being presented to the world. “The world thinks we are terrorists, but we are actually a peaceful nation. We want the world to look at the real face of Islam, which is the religion of peace and tranquility,” he noted.
