As a female Muslim woman, I have recently come to terms about my circumcision experience when I was a child. Yes it was traumatic and wrong but most certainly not required by Islam. Scholars have condemned this practice which actually happens in both Muslim and non-Muslim cultures.
Scholars also presented evidence that Islam puts the power of making any physical changes to the woman’s body at the woman’s hand. In other words, only adult Muslim women have the power of consent (unlike what’s wrongfully) believed. It’s saddening that some educated minds outside of Muslim communities don’t utilize thei education to research and enlighten themselves and communities about what the difference btw culture and religion is.
I hope this helps in bringing this online group some knowledge.

j. wash hands with soap and clean running water
