Col. Ali Çakmakkaya, a judge, describes the headscarf as a “symbol of terrorism” in a voice recording, in which he also uses profanity while referring to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife.
Today’s Zaman (H/T MWP) The voice recording was released on Twitter on Tuesday, although the date of the recording remains unknown. A caption provided with the recording says Çakmakkaya made the statements in an official military setting.
Criticizing Erdoğan for not wearing a tie during his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Çakmakkaya says Erdoğan had put an end to state culture in Turkey. He talks about the wives of Erdoğan and Assad: “You look at the wife of the other [Assad]; she is pretty modern and [looks] European.” He adds that Erdoğan’s wife is not like this, using expletives in his description of Emine Erdoğan.
Çakmakkaya also compares Emine Erdoğan with the wife of Qatar’s Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. “Even the wife of Qatar [Emir] looks neater than his [Erdoğan’s]. Her head is covered but not with a headscarf. These [headscarves] are entirely militant symbols,” he says, adding, “This is not about faith. This is a symbol of terrorism.”

The colonel also claims that Erdoğan and President Abdullah Gül live in palaces. “Did you know the prime minister has three palaces now? Dolmabahçe, Çırağan and another one,” he states. He further claims that President Gül has been given two palaces, one in Yıldız and another in Tarabya, both İstanbul neighborhoods.
“Europe says that. I read it in a newspaper. They [Erdoğan and Gül] are chasing the former Ottomans. They are not for the people at all. Who owned these palaces? The people. We used to visit them as museums. Now these men use them,” he says, going on to say that if people tried to enter the palaces, police officers would stop them. “They are taking over all the palaces.”
Çakmakkaya also states that the police are attacking every place like “dogs” to find evidence against Ergenekon, a clandestine organization nested within the state plotting to manipulate or overthrow the democratically elected government.

I tutored an older, wealthy, secular Turkish woman who was born in Germany. She is the classic wealthy and bored older woman who is involved in charities and sits on the boards of several arts/theatrical centers. She had the (mis)fortune of attending one such brouhhaha with both Gul’s and Erdogan’s bagheaded slaves.
She used one word to describe both women: ignorant.
Then she went on a long diatribe about why such women are ignorant and why they must be told at every opportunity why they are ignorant.
Unfortunately, truly secular, free women like her and this ballsy Colonel are the minority in Turkey while the ignorant, ass backwards slaves of the wannabe caliphates are the majority.

Life in danger is a relative term in Turkey now. This Colonel sounds like a die-hard Kemalist and, sadly, their days are numbered. Back in 2010 a number of active duty and retired military officers belonging to a secret group called Ergenekon were arrested. These guys were not just any officers, they were pashas. Guys from families with military histories since the Ottoman times. They were planning the initial stages of a military coup. Their methods were fairly brutal and they were willing to sacrifice innocents to set the stage for destroying the islamist “democratically elected” caliphate in Turkey now. They were THE LAST LINE OF DEFENSE against the islamification of Turkey.
With them gone it’s now not a matter of if the islamists will finally destroy secular Kemalism in Turkey, but when. SO either way, this Colonel, and others like him are screwed.
Six years ago a friend of mine, who’s a military officer from a family of military officers, and I were talking and he was saying that the secularists were scared witless because they were finding that the islamists had been entering the military and police forces, (backed by Fetulah Gulen money), for years, under the guise of being secularists. He was talking about arse lifting zabiba sporting zombies of islam pretending to be secularists and atheists rising to the top ranks of the military. He said “we don’t know who we can trust now. Who is a nationalist and who is an islamist we don’t know.” And that’s how the Ergenekon group was caught in 2010.

Over the past 9/10 months almost 2 dozen of my Turkish friends have left Turkey and are in the process of trying to attain citizenship in different countries because they see the writing on the wall. Some of them are staunch atheists, some are staunch nationalists, some are both, but all realize what’s going on and realize they can’t fight what’s happening because it’s backed by Saudi money and that asshat in the WH.

Not sure of the exact count, but the Jewish and Christian population of Turkey is less than 2% of the entire population.

The whole time I was there I met 2 Christian Turks. One was a muslim woman who saw the light and left the cult of islam. The other was from a Greek family who had been there since Christ was a corporal. She married a Greek man and her family is in the process of moving to Greece.
They are moving to a real safe haven!

Who cares? Turkey has ALWAYS been an islamofascist pigsty. Just ask the Armenian and Assyrian Christians who not only never received any compensation for the genocide committed against them by Turkish muslimes but have had their genocide denied by the Turkish muslime apes for nearly a century now.
Or ask the Greeks and Jews who suffered through the pogrom committed against them in the 1950′s (and which happened w/the connivance of the Turkish government). In my opinion, “Ergenekon” and “Balyoz” do not exist, the AKP just comes up with trumped up charges against secularist Generals and journalists to put them in jail, there has not been even one conviction secured from either case, and now people realize that the AKP has been falsifying evidence, they used as scant evidence as a word document which turned out to have used a font that wasn’t in existence during the time that the alleged “Ergenekon” group was operating.
The number of Christians living in Turkey is probably larger than the official figures. There is a large number of Crypto-Christians, particularly in the Trabzon (Pontus). There is also a large Alevi minority (up to 15%, which votes as a bloc for secular parties). The Alevis are an extremely heterodox Muslim group which does not practice sharia, worship in mosques, or require the headscarf. Some Alevis do not consider themselves to be muslim.
Look at her closely. That is NOT Erdogan’s wife. it is a vertically challenged member of Turkish Security, shaved and disguised to be close to Erdogan and protect him from attempts on his life.
Close inspection will reveal a trace of the former moustache.

The 1950 pogrom was instigated by Adnan Menderes, former Prime Minister of Turkey. He had fanatics (read: devout muslims) bussed from Anatolia to Istanbul in order to attack nonmuslims and their property. However, Menderes was overthrown by the Turkish Army for this and other crimes and he was tried and hanged. Erdogan is an admirer of Menderes and has even gotten an airport named after him. Erdogan himself refused to allow the prosecution of those responsible for the Sivas and Madimak massacres (massacres of Alevis and Secularists because an Alevi intellectual had translated Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses” into Turkish) based on the statute of limitations.

I had also read the Turkish police in Istanbul (where the pogrom occurred) dragged their heels for some 24 hours before bothering to respond to the muslime violence. I seem to remember a Greek priest was burned alive during the muslime festivities.
Of course there wasn’t any compensation for the families of the victims was there?
There was 60 million lira given as compensation, but large numbers of Rums (Greeks born in Turkey) chose to emigrate, and later Greeks who had been born in Istanbul but held Greek citizenship were expelled from the country due to tensions over Cyprus.
Some points to remember here.
Erdogan is a faithful Gulenist as well as President Abdullah Gul, who is married to his first cousin (at 15) she also wears a hibjab. All the high ranking people of Turkey are Gulenists.
They control: Education, media, Politics, judiciary system, police and NOW —–the most dangerous they are infiltrating the Turkish Military.
This is a very dangerous proposition to have the Turkish Military turn into an Islamic Military.
