Radical Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir wants the so-called Arab Spring to be called what it REALLY is, an ‘Islamic’ Spring
In the West, the role of Islam in the recent uprisings has been downplayed or even totally dismissed by supporters on the Left. The West likes to call the movement an ‘Arab’ Spring, not an Islamic one, and tells itself that it was a Twitter revolution, created by secular youth who were yearning for a secular, democratic state with Western-style freedoms and liberties. But post-uprising elections in countries like Tunisia and Egypt, where Islamic-centric leaders have been elected, prove that it is not ‘democracy’ that is wanted but a new Islamic Caliphate.
