My one contact with the NYPD was while lost in NYC with my wife and four little kids in the car. I stopped an asked a cop which direction would take us toward Boston. He had a s**t hemmorage, almost as if I’d taken his donut. My wife’s firm hand on my arm kept me from doing something stupid, so I simply asked, “so you don’t know?” While he was screaming I simply drove away. If this was any example of the NYPD, I’m not impressed.
Opar, sorry, but that’s kind of a strange question to ask a NYC cop. If you had asked me that question I would have looked at you like you had 2 heads and said, “go North.” And then quickly walked away.
BNI being a retired law enfocement supervisor THAT is not a dumb question we are there to HELP you no matter how.

Opar, one NYC police officer’s rudeness and failure to take into account that navigating NYC can be a daunting task for strangers to the area should not be considered the norm for NYPD in general.

All that aside, terrorism prevention has been by dumb luck, not skill. If that AssWhole had knowledge of fire crackers, there would have been a terrible massacre at Times Square. Bob, there’s something about living in NYC that toughens you up. I walk differently in Manhattan than I do anywhere else – always quickly and with a perpetual scowl on my face, daring anyone to start up with me or get in my way. But that comes from living alone in Manhattan back in the ’70′s, when crime was rampant and it was dangerous to walk alone in certain parts of the city…all pre-Giuliani. Once that kind of stance becomes part of your being, you never lose it.
