Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) fires off 16-page bombshell to Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) re: Ellison’s attack on her over her questioning of the relationship between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her closest aid, Muslim Huma Abedin, whose mother, brother, and deceased father are members of the radical Islamist group Muslim Brotherhood, who founded al-Qaeda.
Walid Shoebat Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), a Muslim, has ratcheted things up with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and four other Congressmen, to include Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Trent Franks (R-AZ).
(Ellison is perhaps best known as being the first Muslim elected to congress who insisted upon being sworn in on a quran (the antithesis of the rights and liberties unique to the U.S. Constitution). More recently, Ellison made a pathetic spectacle of himself before Congress with his teary-eyed, drama queen performance at the Peter King Hearings on Radicalization in the American Muslim community, when he boohooed about one Muslim American who died on 9/11 (whom Ellison had never met or even known about prior to the hearings)
In response to letters penned by those five congressmen – which went to various Inspectors General – to include one addressed to the OIG at the State Department (cc: Hillary Clinton), Ellison demanded the evidence / sources behind the claims that Huma Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Clinton, has familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
On July 12th, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Muslim-MN) sent a two-page letter to the five congressmen who sent five separate letters to five separate Inspectors General on June 13th. The June 13th letters raised serious concerns about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration inside the U.S. Government. Among the concerns raised with the OIG at the State Department are the familial connections of Hillary Clinton’s closest aide – Huma Abedin – to the Muslim Brotherhood.

In your letters, you allege that (one excerpt):
• The mother, brother and deceased father of Huma Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that she, too, by extension, may be working on the organization’s behalf
As reported here, the Muslim Sisterhood, a group to which Huma Abedin’s mother belongs (Saleha Abedin is one of its 63 leaders), is also closely connected to Egypt’s new president, Mursi. His wife, Najla Ali Mahmoud is also one of those 63 leaders and is a close colleague of Huma’s mother, Saleha.
Predictably, James Zogby of the Arab American Institute, is likening Bachmann’s claims to those of Joe McCarthy. He’s obviously neglecting the contents of a Muslim Brotherhood document penned by Mohamed Akram in 1991 that was recovered by U.S. authorities and presented as evidence in the Holy Land Foundation trial.
That document referred to a “long-term plan…approved and adopted” and included this damning quote:
The Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.
Ellison attempted to pit Bachmann against Republicans like Herman Cain and Chris Christie by pointing out that her source in the June 13th letters seemed to be one person – Frank Gaffney. Gaffney has rightfully been very critical of said Republicans in the past for their comments and actions relative to Muslim Brotherhood front groups.
Moreover, Ellison seemed to allege in his July 12th letter that Gaffney was Bachmann’s only source.
Here is how Ellison ended that letter:
Despite Mr. Gaffney’s record of unsubstantiated allegations, you appear to have based your letters to the Inspectors General on his views.
I request that you provide my office a full accounting of the sources you used to make the serious allegations against the individuals and organizations in your letters. If there is not credible, substantial evidence for your allegations, I sincerely hope that you will publically (sic) clear their names.
Ask and ye shall receive, Congressman…
Bachmann responded to Ellison by sending him a 16-page bombshell (via SC Times) that is strewn with 59 separate footnotes, proving unequivocally that Gaffney is hardly her only source. Says Bachmann:
I do note that the facts we presented in the Inspector General request letters are based on information presented by U.S. Government officials in court documents, court evidence, correspondence and briefings with Congress and public statements, in addition to known media reporting.These letters were far from sole-sourced as you maintain in your letter.
While I can’t speak on behalf of the other signatories of these letters, nor am I able to get into the private discussions and documentation received by the various House committees represented by the signatories on these matters that motivated these letters to the various Inspectors General, out of respect to you I am happy to respond to some of your concerns, provide the sources you ask for, as well as clarify a few points that may have been misunderstood or misrepresented.
Furthermore, Ellison’s defense of groups that should be identified as enemies of the United States puts him in dangerous territory and Bachmann exploited it. In citing the Holy Land Foundation Trial – along with attempts by CAIR and ISNA to be removed from unindicted co-conspirator list – Bachmann quotes from the Judge’s declination of that request:
Finally, CAIR, NAIT, and ISNA ask the Court to strike their names from any public document filed or issued by the government (Mot. at 6.) While it is clear from the Briggs line of cases that the Government should have originally filed the unindicted co-conspirators’ names under seal, the Court declines to strike CAIR, ISNA and NAIT’s names from those documents. The Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), and with Hamas. (Bachmann’s letter cites the Judge’s Memorandum Opinion Order)
Using U.S. taxpayer dollars, Keith Ellison meets with Islamic Relief organization in Gaza, which is listed by the US Treasury Department as a supporter of terrorist organization Hamas, which is the governing authority in Gaza
Ellison is dangerously close to outwardly defending groups tied to Hamas – a designated terrorist organization – and he’s doing so on the Congressional record. Bachmann basically check-mates Ellison in the very next sentence:
It should be noted that Article 2 of the Hamas Covenant identifies Hamas as a Muslim Brotherhood entity while Article 7 calls for the global killing of all Jews (Bachmann cites – of all things – Yale Law School).
Ellison is attempting to smear Bachmann while defending Huma Abedin from much needed scrutiny. Bachmann merely wants to investigate Abedin’s familial connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. It’s already known that Huma’s mother – Saleha Abedin – is one of the Muslim Sisterhood’s 63 leaders. Is Ellison willing to overlook or deny this? That also puts him on very dangerous ground.

This is not surprising, considering that the country’s first mosques were built here in the Midwest, right in Minnesota’s backyard. The Ross Mosque in Ross, North Dakota was built in 1929 and the “Mother Mosque” in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was built in 1934. Minnesota’s rich history of welcoming immigrants from all corners of the globe, along with Minnesota’s indigenous American Muslims, has given shape to a Minnesotan Muslim population represented by a diverse range of ethnic and national backgrounds.
Yet the diverse and unique backgrounds of this vibrant community are not well known by the larger society. In order to fill this gap, the Islamic Resource Group (IRG) received a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society to capture and convey the Muslim experience in Minnesota through oral interviews and photographic portraits. The project documented 40 Minnesota Muslims chosen carefully to represent a diverse collection of experiences.

I have read that Romney needs to gain support from conservative Christians in Iowa and elsewhere. Bachmann would meet the need and although Romney is more knowledgeable about the threat of Islam than most people realize, Bachmann would provide the courage to boldly take on Islam.
