Acting like Obama’s bitches, European leaders bash Israel’s plans to build more homes in its capital

Hey, elections have consequences. You vote with the Palestinians at the UN…Israel does what it has to do.

Snubbing critics, PM Benjamin Netanyahu vows to continue building Israel’s ‘undivided capital’ – Jerusalem

The Blaze  Britain, France, Sweden, Spain and Denmark all summoned Israeli envoys to protest Israel’s plans for new homes in Jerusalem, with Germany and the UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon also denouncing the move.

The Israeli government authorized the construction of 3,000 housing units and ordered “preliminary zoning and planning work for thousands” more. The area in question would develop an area of the West Bank Judea/Samaria that could render a Palestinian state unviable.

The State Department said the plans, notably one to begin preliminary work on an especially sensitive piece of land outside Jerusalem known as E1, are “especially damaging” to prospects for a resumption in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and run counter to longstanding U.S. policy.

The Telegraph reports:

The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, quoted unnamed Israeli diplomats as saying the outcry could not have occurred without the complicity of the Obama administration, which has profound differences with Mr Netanyahu over new construction. “We would not be mistaken to say that Europe was acting with Washington’s encouragement,” the paper’s commentator, Shimon Shiffer wrote. “The White House authorised Europe to pounce on the Netanyahu government and to punish it.”

Political consultant Michael Prell and Christians United for Israel Executive Director David Brog  with Andrew Wilkow of The Blaze discuss the mounting controversy and what it could mean for US/Israeli relations and the future of the Palestinian state.
