MISSOURI ‘dhimmi’ Governor Jay Nixon vetoed the anti-sharia bill. But there are enough votes in the state legislature to override it. Make sure they do.
Tell your representatives why they MUST override Governor Jay Nixon’s pro-sharia vote which will undermine our Constitution and American Law.
Here is a very good article by Ryan Mauro to include: ISNA Redefines ‘Sharia’ for Western Consumption: “Our job is to change the Constitution of America.”
*** URGENT MISSOURI ACTION ALERT! ***DEMAND AN OVERRIDE OF GOV. NIXON’S VETO
AMERICAN LAWS FOR AMERICAN COURTS BILL!by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations
Over the last state legislative session, Senator Brian Nieves introduced SB 267, Missouri’s American Laws for American Courts legislation, entitled, “The Civil Liberties Defense Act.”
This common sense legislation would protect Missourians’ individual fundamental constitutional rights from foreign laws or legal doctrines where the application of those laws/doctrines would violate those rights. (No particular foreign law is singled out.)
Brigitte Gabriel and our national staff have made the passage of this legislation a top priority for the 2013 legislative session. This is a vital step in the overall protection of the nation. This erosion of Constitutional authority must be stopped.
The bill moved successfully through both chambers of the Missouri state legislature and on May 22nd was sent to Governor Jay Nixon for signature. Missouri was set to become the SIXTH state in the nation to protect its citizens from foreign laws that run contrary to either the state or federal constitution. What happened?
Governor Nixon vetoed it.
This common sense legislation received strong public support throughout the state of Missouri as it was moving through the legislative process. What happened?
Governor Nixon vetoed it.
The bill passed overwhelmingly in both houses of the Missouri state legislature (House: 109-41; Senate: 24-9) demonstrating overwhelming support by members of the state House and Senate. What happened?
Governor Nixon vetoed it.
The bottom line: Governor Nixon vetoed SB 267 after it received overwhelming support in the legislature and throughout the community. This causes us to believe that he and his staff did not truly and diligently consider this important legislation.
Further, it is very disconcerting that the Governor’s public “objections” amounted to CAIR talking points and, sure enough, the first group to come out and crow about his veto was HAMAS-tied CAIR.
But there is good news. The margins by which SB 267 passed in the House and Senate mean that there is a very real possibility that the veto can be overridden. We just need to let the legislature know that this is what the people of Missouri want.
Will you help us override Governor Nixon’s veto of Missouri’s American Laws for American Courts legislation, SB 267, so that Missouri can join the FIVE other states that have seen this important legislation become law?
If so, please take this simple, yet very important, action noted below—and pass this request on to everyone you know!
*** Important Action Item ***
Today, please call or e-mail the members of the House and Senate leadership in the Missouri state legislature noted below. Let them know that what Governor Nixon has done is shameful. He is not honoring the will of the people or the will of the legislature by refusing to sign SB 267.
This is not acceptable.
Remember, the more Missourians who take this quick and easy action, the louder the roar. The louder the roar, the greater the chances of a veto override.
Please respectfully relay the following sentiments in your own words:
Dear Senator /Representative______________,
I was very disappointed to learn that Governor Jay Nixon recently vetoed SB 267, legislation that was introduced by Senator Brian Nieves, and passed both chambers of the Missouri legislature by overwhelming margins.
This important legislation will protect the fundamental constitutional rights of Missourians from the incursion of foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines only if those laws and doctrines infringe upon those rights.
I ask that you allow your chamber to vote on a veto override as soon as possible.
As a resident of Missouri and as a voter, this bill is of the utmost importance to me.
We must maintain the authority of the Missouri and U.S. Constitutions—and Missouri must become the SIXTH state to enact American Laws for American Courts legislation into law.
Thank you for your leadership on this vital matter.
