WWII Vets break though the barrier to WWII Memorial closed due to the government shutdown. Police refuse to enforce closure. Republican Rep. Steve King distracted Park Police while vets knocked down the fences. The youngest WWII vet today is at least 84 years old. God Bless ‘The Greatest Generation.’

The U.S. Park Police allowed the bus to stop. “I’m not going to enforce the no stopping or standing sign for a group of 90 World War II veterans,” said the officer, who declined to give his name. “I’m a veteran myself. ”
