This photo doesn’t come from Pakistan or Iran, it’s from Montreal. At the risk of being called an ‘Islamophobe,’ the people of Quebec must not tolerate their children being subjected to the care of something out of the dark ages, a woman (?) dressed in a black shroud that covers everything but her eyes.
Post deVeille (h/t Susan K) TheMuslim burqa is not insignificant. From French psychiatrist Caroline Eliacheff An effect on children: The veil trumps religious neutrality. A veiled employee does not just wear the veil, she is subconsciously promoting the rules of a barbaric religion on vulnerable children. The veil erases the idea of equality between boys and girls, between Muslims and non-Muslims. And makes small children very uncomfortable.
In 2010, the Women’s Federation of Quebec voted against banning the full veil for workers in family daycare. But fortunately, Quebec is now trying to pass a law that forbids all religious attire in public institutions.
