UPDATE on that story about Loyola University passing a resolution calling for divestment from Israel

Pro-Israel students at Chicago’s Loyola University are mobilizing a response to the Students for Justice in Palestine-sponsored Israel divestment resolution passed by the school’s student government last week.

Algemeiner  The resolution, which passed 26-0 with two abstentions March 18, urges the university administration “to withdraw investments from eight corporations complicit in Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories, including Caterpillar, SodaStream, Veolia, and Hewlett-Packard.”

Most importantly, Loyola University officials have distanced themselves from the student-led resolution, stating, Loyola University Chicago has NOT adopted a resolution calling for the University to withdraw or refrain from investing in certain companies providing products and services in IsraelThis is not the position of Loyola University Chicago and we will not adopt this proposal.”
