War dog finally laid to rest with military honors

No military cemeteries would take him. Max, a German Shepherd, did 4 years of active duty with the Air Force and was retired in 2007 because according to his military file, “he had become too nice.”

Pam Pelton adopted Max from the Military War Dog Agency and he was with her until he died on Memorial Day 2012. Pelton wanted to bury him in a military cemetery but none would take him. Finally, 2 years later, she found a place for Max in the New Hampshire MSPCA Hillside Acre Cemetery which has a special section just for military dogs. RIP Max.
