More people will fly El Al and get to Israel faster with less BS from the gate. This will not stop enough flights into Israel to hurt to much. But it will hurt the Rest of the Airlines, They are working on a thin margin and this can knock them into the red.
July 23, 2014 @ 1:16 pm
Former NYC Mayor Bloomberg flew to Tel Aviv last night on El Al. And he has his own plane he could have used. I said yesterday that Obama would extend this ban beyond the first 24 hours and they have. Punish Israel any way he can.
July 23, 2014 @ 4:20 pm
BO is so transparent that and idiot could see what he is doing or at least trying to do. It will fail. The demand to travel to Israel will increase and he will relent under heavy pressure from the airlines and public.
BO is such a tool.

Here’s the difference between us. We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.

U.S. banning flights to press Israel into cease-fire?
Diplomats question putting Jewish state on par with Third World
JERUSALEM – Officials in Jerusalem are quietly wondering whether the Federal Aviation Administration’s prohibition on U.S. flights to Tel Aviv is partially a tactic to pressure Israel into a cease-fire.
The FAA’s decision will likely impact the Israeli economy. The action, while temporary, tarnishes Israel’s image around the world, putting the Jewish state, at least for one day, on par with Third World countries where U.S. flights are banned, including Ethiopia, North Korea, Iraq, Somalia and Libya,

Many of the countries on that list likely don’t themselves have commercial flights to and from the United States on their own carriers. Such are North Korea, Iraq, Somalia and Libya. [Ethiopian Airways at one time wasn’t the worst of carriers – whether it nowadays flies to and from the USA, I don’t know.]
It would be a much more serious thing if Obama decided to ban El Al flights from American territory for whatever reason. [If he does that, then people can still connect via a third country like Canada, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, &c. – the only thing that would REALLY hurt Israel in the end is if he breaks off diplomatic relations and forbids people to go there under ANY circumstances, which would be just one step short of war against that country…]
July 22, 2014 @ 7:12 pm
Keeping Assclown “Lurch” Kerry out?! Definitely on the upside!
July 22, 2014 @ 10:28 pm
The Only plus! Bonni said it earlier…could be Israel’s Punishment from Odumbo.
Dry Gulch Dick
July 22, 2014 @ 7:12 pm
Keep the peacenik’s out – that is good.
July 23, 2014 @ 10:15 pm
Indeed – and how idiotic that the above-mentioned flight on YouTube had to turn back all the way to Paris!!!
[They could have done better to land in (from that map) Athens and spare the passengers any discomfort. Other worthy international airports are Larnaca (Cyprus), with lots of connecting flights to Israel (as well as the closest to there – Greek Cyprus is at peace with the Israelis); Rome, Tirana or Sofia if they HAD TO travel some distance!!! Truly, whoever turned back that far did NOT serve their passengers well at all…]
July 22, 2014 @ 6:45 pm
Whilst flights into Israel are stopped (I’d feel far safer flying into Israel than. . .) – infectious flights from Saudi Arabia are “welcomed” around the world.
MERS may be airborne
July 22, 2014 @ 10:22 pm
Yet no one is banning them.
July 23, 2014 @ 10:36 pm
Now THAT is idiotic!!! I wish that individual airports (both in the USA AND the rest of the West) would stop welcoming and handling Moslem carriers like Saudia, Alia, EgyptAir, Middle East Airlines (Lebanon), Turkish, Pakistan International, &c. That could create real inconvenience and discourage those pathogenic people from coming here…
July 23, 2014 @ 11:22 pm
Other airlines to shun:
Air Algérie, Tunis Air, Royal Air Maroc, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airlines, Iran Air, Libyan Arab Airlines, Sudan Air, Garuda (Indonesia), Malaysian – and companies from Bangladesh, Niger, Mali and ALL other Moslem countries!!!
And of course, I wouldn’t want any Western companies to fly to ANY Moslem countries either… No ships, buses, trains, &c.
July 22, 2014 @ 11:11 pm
Funny, Mayor Bloomberg agrees with you!…HE FLEW FROM JFK TO ISRAEL ON EL-AL TONITE!
July 22, 2014 @ 11:14 pm
Good for him!
July 22, 2014 @ 6:19 pm
odumbo and kerry are concerned about the civilian death in palestine, where every death, including the cock roaches is counted as a civilian, but they could care less about the civilian death of twice as many people in the cities of America or the 200,000 deaths of muslums in syria. I am concerned about the civilian deaths in Israel, the cities of America and brave soldiers of Israel. I hope the muslum death rate goes up and up as the savages continue to murder each other.
July 22, 2014 @ 10:31 pm
And the Christians…everyone turns their head to them too! What does it take????
July 22, 2014 @ 10:49 pm
Sorry, I meant “turns their head from what’s happening to them too”…we are seeing genocide!
July 22, 2014 @ 5:55 pm
Let Israel give hamas their jihad.
July 22, 2014 @ 5:22 pm
you just wait for the day the inbreeds get s-400’s anything with wings within 400km’s will be downed and there’s goes israel’s air advanage.
and the russians have anti-shipping missiles with ranges of 180km’s to 250km’s isreal’s sealanes will be cut off.
so all those jews who leave europe escaping islam may just just find they’re backing themselves into a corner someday.
July 22, 2014 @ 3:09 pm
Unless the internet hasn’t caught up with our airlines.. I just found this:
Delta 2917 operated by ENDEAVOR AIR DBA DELTA CONNECTION
21h 29m, 3 stops
FCO, JFK, …
So it’s safe to fly into Lebanon? Apparently It’s safe to fly anywhere in the middle east.. just not Israel.
WRONG! More and more as this kenyan bastard shows his true colors.. the more I’m convinced I was right when I saw him and heard his name… he has been put into this position to help destroy Israel and to bring us to our knees.
Jews all over the USA need to boycott the airlines and the White House. OK I know that won’t happen.. but I can wish it!
July 22, 2014 @ 10:36 pm
He is punishing Israel to get them to cave. I predict this will not be just a 24 hour ban.
July 23, 2014 @ 10:10 pm
Let it be so: that way I’ve zero doubt that El Al will be raking in the dollars of those travelling there and elsewhere!!! If they now can match or surpass competitor airlines’ nowadays-STINGY comfort levels (especially in Economy – which has become 3rd-class while Business-class = 2nd-class), they really could become absolute WINNERS!!!!
That would become a great lesson against European and North-American airlines…
July 22, 2014 @ 2:55 pm
If this keeps Air Force One far away, it can only be a GOOD thing for Israel!
July 22, 2014 @ 2:55 pm
Why are you repeating the post? We are quite able to read the first one.
July 22, 2014 @ 9:57 pm
July 22, 2014 @ 2:52 pm
Would be so. Sad if kerry got plane shot down. Too bad obama can’t do fund raising in gaza…oh, they already have our $$. Still, obama taking one for his muslim bros, Awesome
July 22, 2014 @ 2:35 pm
Fly El Al. When you need to get there, they’ll handle it.
July 23, 2014 @ 10:06 pm
Not only that: thanks to their security and maintenance practises (including the way they profile passengers), they’re renowned worldwide as the safest airline anywhere!!! If I had to travel (not something I want to do these days) overseas, I’d look to them first if possible.
At this time, perhaps they are the closest thing we have to our ideally-desired “Air Infidel”… [I trust very few if any Moslems fly with them!!]
July 23, 2014 @ 11:12 pm
I’ve flown with El Al, never felt safer in my life.
July 22, 2014 @ 2:31 pm
I guess El Al will have to add a few more flights where possible…
July 22, 2014 @ 9:52 pm
They are. I think this is Obama’s way of putting sanctions on Israel.
July 22, 2014 @ 2:11 pm
recce1, I was being facetious. My saying that Odumbo has the FREEDOM to fly as THE ARABS in their lands have the FREEDOM to fly, BUT PEOPLE attempting to come & go to ISRAEL can not all because of HAMAS & THE PALIS???? Who’s Fault is THAT? Israel’s? No! If other countries said they were suspending all Air Traffic to America, Do You Think America would Be Outraged??
July 22, 2014 @ 1:55 pm
Air Force 1 has some rather sophisticated defense systems and is always escorted by fighters. US Air Force transports in the past HAVE been shot down. Why would commercial airlines risk the lives of crew and passengers if certain airports aren’t safe?
The headline is misleading. Airlines aren’t “punishing” Israel. They just realize that radical Muslims are acting in a homicidal manner.
July 22, 2014 @ 2:32 pm
I totally agree with your statement….”Airlines aren’t ‘punishing’ Israel”.
As a retiree from a major U.S. international airline….I can also add the risk of aircraft being targeted by missiles on their final approach for landing…and critical is the airspace on their flight plan en route….and if not intercepted by the IDF there would be multiple MH17 type disasters.
lindar, Exactly what Hamas is looking for.
July 22, 2014 @ 10:43 pm
But THAT IS PUNISHING ISRAEL…Every Country That Hates Israel (Just About All) Have been posting, tweeting, face booking, “No Flying To Israel…YEAH” Pretend for a minute that drug cartels from Mexico were attacking our border states with rockets….Do we retaliate? Does Mexico help us by trying to kill the members of the drug cartel on their end? Should we (America) send troops out to ONLY try to kill these guys and risk losing our soldiers? It may not be the exact scenario but Israel is trying to appease everyone!
July 22, 2014 @ 2:37 pm
There is no greater danger today than there has been in the past 2 weeks of this war. Hamas is still firing indiscriminately into populated centres, including the airport area. They’ve been doing this for weeks and flights continued to come in and out. So, why now?
July 22, 2014 @ 9:53 pm
dee, it’s Obama’s way of punishing Israel.
July 22, 2014 @ 3:10 pm
Then suspend ALL flights into the middle east. Not just Israel.
July 22, 2014 @ 1:47 pm
WTF ?? Even with the rockets coming in,Israel is still safer than Chicago. If I had the money,I would be boarding an El Al flight right now. What a bunch of candyasses.
July 22, 2014 @ 1:57 pm
Who in Chicago is firing rockets at aircraft?
July 22, 2014 @ 2:15 pm
recce1, again, the lack of public outrage toward Hamas is deafening!
July 22, 2014 @ 3:12 pm
Who is firing rockets in Chicago at aircrafts? Give them time… the gangs will come up with it.
July 22, 2014 @ 1:43 pm
If Obama Can Fly Then So Can I…Hamas Should NOT Be Able To CONTROL Air Travel! If People are not Safe to Use Israel’s Air Space Because of Hamas, Then That Is EVERYONE’S PROBLEM!
July 22, 2014 @ 1:59 pm
marcia, Air Force 1 has some rather sophisticated defense systems and is always escorted by fighters. US Air Force transports in the past HAVE been shot down. Why would commercial airlines risk the lives of crew and passengers if certain airports aren’t safe?
Israel is now showing the right response. Pull no punches; destroy enemy terrorist organizations.
July 22, 2014 @ 8:27 pm
so what does Air Force 1 got to do with Israel?
Kerry flies on Air Force 2
July 22, 2014 @ 8:29 pm
Obama is busy fundraising or golfing to care about anything else
July 22, 2014 @ 3:03 pm
I agree! We are punishing Israel for the trouble Hamas is causing. And always causes.
July 22, 2014 @ 7:14 pm
Indeed it is!……
