We can also add to this wonderful, amazing and beautiful Israeli mixture… Bedouins, Druze, Circassians, Samaritans, and other ethnicities. Over 300,000 non-Jewish spouses, in-laws, step-children and other relatives of Jews who came to Israel. The Jewish state allows non-Jewish family to accompany the Jewish immigrant.
Now lets go back to the 1970s humanitarian crisis that was the Vietnamese “Boat People” (caused by communist oppression). Israel took in 3,000 such refugees which for a nation of its size back in the 1970s was indeed a major humanitarian gesture. Half were Christian (which was split down the middle of 1/2 Protestant and 1/2 Catholic; and the other half- 1500 were Buddhist). Many of the Vietnamese moved on to other places… but a population did remain and does prosper in Israel.
Pro-Zionist devout Christian Finns moved to Israel in the 1940s… and also arriving were Roma (Gypsy) people… Jews having compassion for this ethnic group that also perished in Nazi camps… many came to Israel in displaced person arrivals post WWII. The Jews allowed them to stay. Also, “staying” were several thousand gentile Latins (mostly Argentines)… when Argentine Jews came to Israel… a population of Christian Argentines did so as well, getting all necessary work permits and visas… to live and work and get educations in Israel. Eventually, Israel allowed them- these NONE JEWISH Hispanics to “stay.”
Black Hebrews make their home in Israel who has realized they are now a fixture in Israeli society. And for CENTURIES an Armenian population has lived in Israel; mostly in Jerusalem.
And the Jews themselves? Name a shade, color or nationality and it is represented amongst the Jews of Israel… the “Beta Israel” people are from Ethiopia and the “Bene Israel” Jews are from India. Recently there has been an effort to bring in the remnants of the ANCIENT Jewish Chinese population from Kaifeng to Israel. Saw, a “mini documentary” about these Chinese Jews coming to Israel. It was “Wow.”
Israel issues visas to gentiles from all over the world to live, work and get an education in Israel. Sadly, one such person was killed by the Gaza muzz sewage and is one of the civilians killed in Israel. The man was I believe a Buddhist from Thailand. Oh, and one of the IDF soldiers KIA recently was a “Bene Israel” whose family came from India.
Then consider all the illegals from all over who to Israel who did not get permission to live there! They are from all backgrounds and nationalities.
And as for women or LGBT people or the disabled? Women have rights in Israel unheard of in all the Islamic world combined. LGBT people can go about their lives without fear of being stoned to death. Israel even has one of the world’s biggest gay parades-festivals in Tel Aviv every year. The disabled? With Israeli advances in medicine and health care… and their desire to help the disabled and also IDF soldiers who get serious injuries in war… compare the life of a disabled person in Israel to one in Gaza.
Oh, yea. BNI DID COMPARE in a way. The post on the Muslim developmentally disabled guy who was shackled to an Israeli military target… left to starve, die of thirst or in a bombing.
Oh- side comment. Stephen Hawking is the world famous scientist with severe disabilities. He apparently is also very anti-Zionist and has spoken against Israel. Sad, because the computer chips that allow him to communicate (which he can no longer physically speak)… WAS INVENTED IN ISRAEL.
Also, I want to say something as an American Indian. In late 1999, a contingent of North American Indian tribal leaders, Elders and other prominent members of several USA and Canadian tribes visited Israel. They were warmly welcomed by Israeli leaders and the populace. These American Indian people were invited to visit the Knesset and gave gifts of traditional cultural items and arts to the Israeli leaders.
Every American Indian I know was excited as they read about this trip in American Indian national and tribal specific newspapers. I still have a copy of one of those papers that had on the front page Tribal leaders giving a headdress to an Israeli leader… in the Knesset. The fact that the Israeli people and leadership was so open and welcoming to my fellow American Indians is something I will always remember fondly.
Now… what is this about an “Apartheid state????”
Any idiot who holds up such a sign accusing Israel of being an “apartheid state” needs to have that sign rammed into one body opening and coming out the other.

Apartheid state Israel? Just more willful leftist hypocrisy in a world gone mad, when as we all know the apartheid states are all around Israel.

Israel, an apartheid state? What an ignorant double-standard!
The Israel haters who wrongfully accuse Israel of being an apartheid state, many of whom are incidentally self-hating Jews, completely ignore the real apartheid of the surrounding Muslim nations.
A Jew cannot enter Saudi Arabia, unless a high ranking Saudi official grants an exemption. Saudi citizens themselves are required to be Muslims. No other religions are allowed in Saudi Arabia.
Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. Saudi women, for all intents and purposes are the property of their fathers, and then the property of their husbands when they marry. Saudi women are not even allowed to do most things in Saudi society without the permission of their “guardians”.
Although now even Israeli Jews can visit Jordan and see Petra, under the Jordanian constitution Jews are prohibited from Jordanian citizenship. The Jordanian constitution says “Any man will be a Jordanian subject, unless he is Jewish.” In sharp contrast, Israeli Arab citizens serve in the Israeli Knesset, serve in the IDF, and have other equal rights in Israeli society.
Of course Israel is not perfect, as no country even USA, can be perfect. But, Israel is a democracy where open protest and debate is allowed. Israelis often protest and dissent about what is wrong in their country and do not get arrested for doing so. Israeli newspapers freely present different opinions, just like here in the USA.
Just try going to Saudi Arabia, openly criticize it’s Islamic dictatorship, and then see happens to you!
Israel is the only country in the Middle East that accepts gay people. And yet there is an organization called “Queers for Palestinian”. Ironically, gay people in the “Palestinian” territories are murdered.

This just shows that multi-culturalism can work, its just moslems will not embrace any other culture than ttheir own. The problem is them no one else. They only have themselves to blame. Dogs

FL, no, multiculturalism does not work. Assimilation is what works which is why these two people love their country so much.
July 31, 2014 @ 6:41 pm
The left changed the meaning of Multiculturalism. From being assimilated to demanding the Host change for the mohommedist. Therefore; it will not work.
