Designated Terrorist Group CAIR seeks hate crime investigation of phone threats to Ohio mosque.
CAIR Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) today called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate reported threats to two Columbus, Ohio, mosques as possible hate crimes. Rambling and obscenity-laced calls received yesterday by Masjid Omar Ibn El-Khattab made many references to the “n-word” and the caller stated he would “see you soon” and “you’re out of here.” He also used phrases like “you will be vaporized,” “you’re done,” “lose your religion n**ger,” and “blow up.
CAIR alleges another Columbus mosque also received a threatening message. In January, someone called and threatened to destroy a central Ohio mosque. A hate call was also reportedly made to a mosque in Cincinnati.
CAIR today thanked law enforcement authorities in Revere, Mass., for their prompt response to reports of possible death threats targeting local Muslims.
CAIR says the threats, which were printed on pieces of paper and left in a public place, included statements such as “All Muslims will be killed” and “We Must Kill All Muslims in America.” The city has a significant Muslim population.
