Unlike most Muslims, the Japanese cherish their animals…just ask Lala, the king penguin

Several years ago, an injured king penguin who got tangled up in a fishing line was rescued by a Japanese fisherman and nursed back to health. But when he was fully recovered, he refused to leave.  He’s been with the Nishimoto family ever since and lives in his own air-conditioned cold room in the house.

When Lala hits the road with his backpack, he heads right for the fish store to stock up.
