IRAQI Prime Minister says that the U.S. intention to send in ground combat forces to its territory would be considered a “hostile act”
Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Tuesday that the U.S. military will deploy a specialized expeditionary targeting force to Iraq to launch unilateral raids and “put even more pressure” on ISIS.
NBC U.S. special operation forces will conduct operations in Iraq “at the invitation of the Iraqi government” and be in position “to conduct unilateral operations into Syria,” Carter said. The US has announced that it will deploy around 100 special forces personnel to Iraq to fight the Islamic State jihadist group here and in neighboring Syria, while two American senators have proposed tripling the number of US troops in the country.
