This is what happened to a BNI reader at the Pickering Town Centre Mall:
I am happy to wear your T-shirts despite yesterday having been told by mall security at the Pickering Town Centre east of Toronto, Canada, that I am not allowed to wear the shirt in the mall. They wanted me to change the shirt to stay or otherwise leave. The shirt I was wearing was the one that said “Islam, spreading hatred religiously … “
I believe the person who complained was a Muslim female with partial head covering who seemed quite agitated as she was talking to security while I waited for a purchase to be prepared across from where she worked.
The kiosk where she was working was called Ultimate Protection (sells cell phone covers), although the brown skinned security guard told me there had been “many complaints.” My guess is if there was more than one then they were all from her but I can’t be sure. The guard told me I could wear the shirt on the street but since the mall is private property I had to either leave or change my shirt right away.
I left and changed my shirt and came back for a walk. The shirt I wore when I came back was the one with the quote by Voltaire which says “If you want to know who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” (A perfect replacement)
