“I will eat you alive, ” declares new Philippine president as he vows to personally tear apart Islamic militants who have been terrorizing his country for many years
Often called the ‘Donald Trump of Asia,’ Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte made headlines yesterday when he pledged to literally eat ISIS militants “alive and raw.” The incredible threat follows last week’s deadly Islamic attack in the country which left more than a dozen dead. He told an audience that he would find the violent Abu Sayyaf Islamic militants responsible for the attacks and make them pay.
UK Express President Duterte said: “They will pay. When the time comes, I will eat you in front of people. “If you make me mad, in all honesty, I will eat you alive, raw.” Abu Sayyaf is a band of Islamic militants who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Muslim group became known for kidnapping foreigners to extract ransoms, and this year beheaded two Canadian hostages.
Friday’s shocking bombing left 14 dead and wounded several others at a night market in Mr Duterte’s hometown of Davao.
As he continued the savage threat, he added: “I will really carve your torso open. “Give me vinegar and salt and I will eat you. I’m not kidding. “These guys are beyond redemption.”
The Philippine leader, formerly a popular mayor, who now has more than 90% popularity ratings in the country, won power on promises to eradicate corruption and crime.
He has been criticized by the US and the UN after 2,500 people have been killed in drug raids. He has threatened to leave the UN if they continue to condemn his crackdown on drug dealer.s
A pamphlet handed out at the regional summit in Laos defended the country’s bloody crackdown on drug dealers.
His right-hand man, notorious police chief, Ronald Dela Rosa said: “We are not butchers who just kill people for no apparent reason.” Mr Duterte has vowed to protect police officers who kill drug dealers amid growing concern of vigilantism.
But, he made headlines for different reasons earlier this week when he called US President Barack Obama “a son of a whore.”
His aides often urge reporters against taking Mr Duterte’s comments literally, cautioning that the 71-year-old former lawyer speaks in “a crude language of the people”. His comments on President Obama caused a major diplomatic split with the US, who cancelled their meeting with the leader.
