Interesting. Trump did appear to be more comfortable. Putin may be unhappy with the lack of cooperation in Syria, which comes across as unease.

My father always told me to be very wary of anyone who averts eye contact, and will not look you in the eye, especially when they are talking to you, 1 on 1.
It’s been good advice. People who won’t look you in the eye, for the most part, at shifty and untrustworthy. That has been my experience. Putin, sure seemed uncomfortable by avoiding direct eye contact with Trump…???
The height difference is also something to consider…as taller, larger men have a distinct PERCEIVED advantage over smaller fellows. That’s not to say some shorter people can’t be scrappy little guys…but height is a definite advantage, as is weight.
I knew someone who worked in Detroit and this person knew an aunt of the boxer Cassius Clay, later to become Muhammad Ali…and about a week before Clay was going to fight Sonny Liston for the first time, Clay came to Detroit to visit his aunt…and she was a delightful black lady, classy and funny, but very nice and well bred…and she told my friend who knew her, that she gave Cassius shit for always running his mouth and bragging about how good he was, and she said that he told her, he did it to take his mind off the fact that he was so damned afraid of the upcoming fight with Liston, that he had to keep prattling on to help him cope with the upcoming bout…LOL
Clay couldn’t hide this fact from his manager, I think it was Angelo Dundee, that he was scared, and Dundee knew it was going to be a problem if Clay didn’t get his fear under control.
Here’s a kid from Louisville, Ky. going into the ring against a hardened prison inmate…so one could understand his anxiety…so just before the fighter’s went to centre ring to shake hands before the fight started, Dundee said to Clay…”Cassius, you’re taller than Liston…go in there and stand up straight and tall, and stare DOWN at Liston…that will/MIGHT intimidate him, seeing how much taller you are than him”…
And Ali said that last bit of advice given to him before the bout boosted his confidence and he credits that for helping him win the fight…Clay said that when he did that, he could see a change in Liston’s eyes…that he recognized as fear…or at least, uncertainty…and after that, the rest is history…
Trump did look much more confident and sure of himself than Putin…but never underestimate the little guy…

Trump-the quintessential leader. I do believe in body language as animals read each other like this all the time. He comes out even more confident and statesmanlike than Putin, who of course does not do a bad job of it himself. One can notice nervousness on Putin’s part. If this were a pack, Trump would be the top alpha male, with Putin trailing a bit behind. I am so glad we have a President who comes across as a real take charge leader.

I have never believed the theory of ‘body language’ but a lot of lucky people have made a lot of money by becoming ‘experts’ and advising others about interpreting gestures etc.
People think in different ways, some, like Putin, look down to avoid being distracted by the other person’s appearance as we are constantly taking mental pictures of our surroundings. This does not make Putin a pushover. He will not accept trouble from anyone and is capable of taking strong steps to achieve his goals. These men are equally strong characters with the aim of protecting their people. Both are to be applauded.

Only the left would think that was a good idea.
