Unlike most Muslims, the Japanese cherish their animals…just ask Lala, the penguin. When Lala hits the road wearing his penguin backpack, he heads straight for the fish store to stock up.
Several years ago, an injured king penguin who got tangled up in a fishing line was rescued by a Japanese fisherman and nursed back to health at his home. But when Lala was fully recovered, he refused to leave and kept coming back to the Nishimoto house. He’s been with the Nishimoto family ever since and resides in a special air-conditioned cold room in the house.
