UK Daily Mail (h/t Mary Lynn)  Prime Minister Hisham Qandil said he had witnessed children suffering from diarrhoea immediately after they had been breastfed because their mothers hadn’t cleaned themselves probably. He added that many women in rural Egypt don’t even bother to clean their breasts at all before feeding their youngsters. (Actually, he might have a point. See below)

Qandil was speaking about the spate of recent epidemics in Egypt’s rural communities during an address at a cabinet meeting. Women members present were noticeably uncomfortable as Qandil made the comments, according to a report from International Business Times.

Qandil, 50, is the youngest Prime Minister of Egypt in the last five decades. He served as the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation before being appointed by President Mohammed Morsi. Qandil previously caused widespread anger by offering a bizarre solution to Egypt’s power crisis. He urged the Egyptians to wear cotton clothes and gather in a single room to conserve power. (And we are gifting these people with the most advanced fighter jets in the world?)

Last Saturday, a letter delivered to the Islamic Cultural Center of Meximieux was discovered to have no words, no bills, no advertisements…just a big slice of ham. HORRORS!

But true to form, the Islamic Center immediately contacted the French version of CAIR (Council on Anti-American Islamic Relations) to file a lawsuit against ‘Islamophobia’ in France, forcing the police to open an investigation.

Police will be questioning all farmers and food stores in the area to determine where this particular kind of ham was sold and to whom.

Popular Toy manufacturer LEGO has been accused of racism by the Turkish community over a Star Wars toy allegedly depicting  a mosque. The critics claim that the Jabba’s Palace model, part of Lego’s Star Wars range, offends Muslims as it resembles the Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul – one of the world’s most renowned mosques. As an indication of the anger felt over Jabba’s Palace, the organisation said it was considering taking legal action against Lego for inciting racial hatred and insulting human dignity.

UK Daily Mail  Members of the Turkish Cultural Community of Austria group also accused the toy manufacturer of depicting Muslims as having ‘deceitful and criminal personalities’. (Yes,  truth in advertising) The group has released a statement calling for an apology from Lego for its cultural insensitivity.

The Lego set is based on the home of Jabba the Hutt, a central character in the Star Wars series, who lives in a domed palace, with a separated watchtower. As well as bearing a likeness to the Hagia Sophia mosque, the Turkish group also claimed the toy takes its design from the Jami al-Kabir mosque in Beirut – while the watchtower is said to resemble a minaret.

A post on the community’s website contains a picture of the slug-like creature’s Lego home, pointing out similarities with the Istanbul mosque. Outraged Muslims have criticised the toy producer on the community’s website, accusing it of deliberately placing contextual errors in the toy.

The case came to light when a Turkish man expressed his dissatisfaction with the toy after it was purchased for his son by a family member.   After investigating, Dr Melissa Günes, General Secretary of the Turkish Cultural Community, said that Lego had been contacted with an official complaint.

A statement posted on the organisation’s website refers to Jabba the Hutt as a ‘terrorist’ and says that he ‘likes to smoke hookah and have his victims killed’. It adds: ‘It is clear that the ugly figure of Jabba and the whole scene smacks of racial prejudice and vulgar insinuations against Asians and Orientals as people with deceitful and criminal personalities.’ (No, they are only talking about Muslims) The statement says that the figures in the set are made to resemble ’terrorists, criminals and murderers’.

Referring to weapons contained in the set, the statement suggests that the ‘combination of temple building and bunker facilities where shots are fired cannot be appropriate for children between 9 and 14 years old’.

It concludes: ‘One would expect more empathy and responsibility from a manufacturer of toys that has produced toys and models that are good for teaching for decades.’ The organisation also says it is planning legal action in Austria, Germany and Turkey against the toy firm if it does not get a satisfactory response.

Lego’s Katharina Sasse said: ‘The Lego Star Wars product Jabba´s Palace does not reflect any actually existing buildings, people, or the mentioned mosque. ’The Lego mini-figures are all modelled on characters from the movie.

‘We regret that the product has caused the members of the Turkish cultural community to come to a wrong interpretation, but point out that when designing the product only the fictional content of the Star Wars saga were referred to.’

Shawnee County Jail inmate Jason W. Hachmeister, who is facing a murder charge in his mother’s death by strangulation, claims he has experienced discrimination and indifference in jail on multiple occasions because of his religious beliefs, and is seeking $100 million from defendants.

CJ Online  The petition said Hachmeister in January 2012 began requesting and receiving a certified religious diet from the jail, which failed on numerous occasions last summer during the Muslim season of Ramadan to provide him with food that properly met the requirements of his Muslim faith.

Hachmeister wrote: “During Ramadan my (certified religious diet) food was messed with, not properly fixed by kitchen staff and administrators, even after repeated requests to do so. I have also listed other instances of food being tampered with and also when I’ve been locked down so Christians can pray or witness and when I’ve requested the same treatment I don’t even get the dignity of a response, let alone the ability for Muslims to do the same.”

He is scheduled to go to a jury trial May 13 on a premeditated first-degree murder charge in the September 2010 slaying of Sheila Hachmeister, his mother, whom he told police he found dead lying on the floor of their southwest Topeka home, where he lived in the basement. Sheila Hachmeister had numerous stab wounds to her hands and head but was determined to have died from strangulation.

Jason Hachmeister faces a second case involving charges on 108 counts of child pornography possession, which authorities said emerged during the investigation into his mother’s death. The jury trial in that case is set for March 11.

Arab News  The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has slammed caricatures of the Prophet  published in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, saying it incites hatred and intolerance against Muslims. OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed concern at the publication of the comic book series on the life of Prophet Muhammad.

Ihsanoglu said the publication went against the norms of responsible (Sharia) journalism and was tantamount to abuse of the right to freedom of expression (a concept about which Muslims are totally clueless). He added that incitement and advocacy of hatred and intolerance on religious grounds signified by this publication was in contravention of international human rights laws and instruments. (Only under sharia law)

He called on the magazine to abide by the provisions, particularly those in the European Union (EU) context, on incitement to hatred and violence. He urged the authorities in France to take appropriate action against the magazine. (They won’t)

Ihsanoglu  reiterated the OIC’s principled position on developing an international consensus on dealing with a frequency of deliberate acts of incitement, within the framework of the Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18. (In other words, making freedom of expression an international crime)
